The data that generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT and Copilot for Microsoft 365, can have access to is creating a data governance nightmare for organizations because they don’t know what sensitive data might get surfaced in GenAI responses to user prompts. This is not a new problem because data has been overshared for years, but the risks were far less than they are now with GenAI.
